We were evicted from our studio apartment back in September 2023 because I got my daughter a kitten to help with her severe depression. She then got her kitten certified through her doctor as an Emotional Support Animal, and shortly after, the building manager discovered we had a pet in our unit and promptly evicted us. We then moved across the parking lot to an extended stay motel, where we were quickly kicked out for having her pet there as well (they said only dogs were allowed, because cats were too messy and had been an issue for them in the past).

Change needs to be made! Prohibiting people with any form of disability from having an ESA or Service Animal is illegal and no property should be able to continue getting away with evicting people who have them. The ADA would be livid to discover this is an ongoing issue! We want to make waves with this petition and spread it as far and wide as we can. It's time to stand up for what's right and make a difference.
