Stop Buc-ee's from coming to Stafford, VA
The Issue
Say NO to BUC-EES from coming to Stafford, Virginia
The proposed location is near Austin Ridge and Embrey Mill communities (Exit 140 west of I-95).
We do not need more gas stations in the area especially one with 120 gas pumps. This will lead to more traffic congestion, pollution, higher crime and higher expenses for the county. This eventually will lead to higher taxes to cover utilities and water usage for over 100 toilets and 500,000 gallons of water monthly including stormwater runoff containing millions of gallons of gasoline and oil residue entering our local environment. There will also be 100 plus gas pumps off-gassing carcinogenic fuel vapors into our communities.
There will be higher crime due to the influx of people from all over the United States. Many of these criminals would then canvass local communities for easy opportunities, ie burglaries, home invasions, car thefts, child abductions and other crimes. The sheriff's office will be extremely taxed responding to calls to these areas leading to higher taxes covering more overtime, new hires, vehicles and other police related expenses. According to FBI, statistics, gas stations and convenience store are targets for violent crimes in this country. Here are just a few examples see the links below.

The proposed location is currently not developed and is across from the Embrey Mill Town Center.
