I am pleased to share that I have been in touch with Paula Linhares, Constituent Services Specialist. She supports the Commissioners, and wanted to share the message below:

It is our understanding that the property owner of the proposed Buc-ees is petitioning for annexation into Palmer Lake. There is not a role for the Board of County Commissioners approval nor denial in an annexation. The Board may be involved in conversations about roads in the future, but not land use actions.

As a next step, I will be reaching out to the Director of Planning and Community Development to determine who might be the appropriate decision maker on this petition. I will keep you all updated as I learn more.
