We are strongly opposed to BC Hydro employing non-selective, broad herbicide spraying in the Comox Valley for part of their Integrated "Vegetation Management Program".

Whereas BC Hydro is attempting to manage the "IVMP" by adopting a more cautious approach to herbicide usage; their use of broad, non- selective herbicide spraying is destructive to soil, plant and animal life. These areas after treatment become vulnerable to invasive weeds, thereby needing more herbicide use.

Therefore, we ask BC Hydro to adopt Best Practices of mechanical removal (with only very selective, plant specific herbicide treatment) , followed by an extensive, native, low-growing species reintroduction program.
