Stop breeding = Stops Euthanasia

The Issue

I am writing this petition as a passionate animal advocate who is deeply disturbed by the current situation facing many dogs today. I've encountered numerous heart-wrenching videos showing dogs looking at being euthanized simply because they didn't have an adopter. Or they neede to euthanize for space for more dogs. This growing crisis is not just a series of unfortunate events but a direct consequence of uncontrolled breeding practices.

The statistics are alarming and paint a grim picture of the future if we do not act. In the first half of this year alone, 209,000 dogs have been euthanized. The numbers are stark, but they represent real lives lost—not just statistics. This tragedy could be mitigated if breeders took the time to consider not just their profits but the well-being of the animals and the long-term consequences of their acts.

The root problem lies in the rapid increase of breeders aiming only to maximize their incomes without a thought for where these dogs will ultimately end up. Too many are choosing to breed in record numbers to line their pockets. They see dollar signs instead of innocent lives. Ending this cycle starts with accountability and responsibility.

We propose a mandatory moratorium on dog breeding for a specified period. This pause will allow shelters to find homes for dogs currently in dire situations, reducing the need for euthanasia. Additionally, this period can be used to implement stricter regulations on breeders, ensuring that future breeding practices are ethical and sustainable.

Our call to action is clear: we must unite to demand our local and national governments rethink their policies on breeding. We ask for both immediate and long-term changes designed to save lives. Together, we can push for mandatory breeding licenses, regular inspections of breeding facilities, and tighter regulations on the number of allowable litters.

Join me in this critical effort to make a life-saving difference for countless dogs. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and to help us bring about a future where every dog has the chance to find a loving home. Your support can lead to real change and prevent these tragic outcomes from happening. Let's advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves and change this bleak narrative into one of hope and compassion.
