Stop Breed Restrictions Of Pit-Bulls!!
The Issue
I'm Dalton a 22 year old from the good sunny state of Florida. I live in Polk County, Florida it's not much but it's home to me. I have a Red Nose Pittbull named Kilo (Yes kilo). I ended up rescuing this beautiful monster just over a year and a half ago once a large fighting ring near bartow closed down. Luckily he's got a great forever home with me. He's my everything and then some. I've recently been trying to move out on my own which is much harder than I expected it would be. Money isn't the problem here, it's the breed restrictions that are in my county (Polk county) that's what is limiting me from moving out on my own. Because of some kinda insurance purposes they all seem to say. I don't quite understand it all to be honest. He's house trained very well, My dog has no history of violence, He gets along just fine with other dogs including males, He's one of the best acting companions one man could ask for, he's just one BIG lover is all! The only threat he poses is he'll lick you to death and beat you with his tail that wags at 100 mph.. Everybody likes puppy love though am I wrong? My dog who happens to be my bestfriend is viewed negatively against for reasons unknown. The stereotype that all Pit-Bulls are is an agresive breed has been determined false on more than one occasion. The most vicious dog actually happens to be a Dalmatian so they say. I wonder if others know that through a study I read it stated that "You are twice as likely to be bitten by a Golden Retriever than you are a Pit-Bull" In aggression test held border collies out scored that of a Pit-bull terrier. You wouldn't proclaim that every Muslim was a terrorist why should you slander the good name of a Pit-bull by thinking every one of these dogs are some snarling beast who's blood thirsty? All because others have forced these dogs to viciously fight and kill each other.. For their own amusement.. For them to make money from instead of them working like the rest of us do. It's just sad that I live in a WORLD that holds a dog responsible for a humans boneheaded actions. That to me is discrimination and injustice at it's fullest. its not about the breed it's all about how you raise them. These dogs love people and are extremely loyal to those they surround themselves with. Confident and keenly aware of their surroundings, they make great watchdogs they alert you to the presence of strangers, but that's primarily because they're eager to greet "their" guests. Thier courage is unmatched and they will defend their family with their lives. I've raised these dogs all my life and I'm a huge pit bull fan. I say it's time to make a change, I say we must stand up together as one and make a difference! Let us be the voice for the unspoken, they sit for us now let us stand up for these beautiful four legged fur friends of ours and overturn the breed restriction policy on Pit-Bull terriers!! Once you sign my petition here be kind enough and share it to your Facebook or Twitter page. I desperately wanna appeal this law and continue on to give these dogs the great name they once had and the name they without a doubt deserve! Please sign my petition and together we will make a change for these dogs one step further is better than a step back.
