Stop Botley West Solar Farm

The Issue

Photovolt Development Partners (PVDP), together with local land owners - notably Blenheim Estate - is planning to build a huge solar generation plant in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside that will dwarf in scale anything else seen in the UK, and even Europe.

The proposal would cover 3,500 acres of countryside, including Green Belt land - equivalent in area to 2,000 football pitches - in and around the villages of: Filchampstead, Church Hanborough, Long Hanborough, Bladon, Begbroke, Yarnton, Worton, Cassington, Wootton, Cumnor, Farmoor, Glympton and Tackley.

We believe solar generation should be done via rooftop installations on domestic and commercial properties, not green spaces and productive farmland. The proposed site would mean the loss of vast swathes of arable farmland and lead to a significant reduction in biodiversity in the affected area. The net environmental impact of such a development would be negative, not positive.
