Hello, I am an 8th grader going to an international baccalaureate school. That means I have to complete a project that creates a long lasting effect in a community. For my project I have decided to raise awareness about book banning in America. 

Book banning is when a state or school bans certain books based on the topics and/or themes of the book. This is bad because kids need to be educated by open minded people so they don't grow up in hate. Children in states such as Texas and Florida will grow up without seeing themselves represented in books and will see and will learn to hate people of certain ethnicities and sexual orientations because they are not well educated.   

Most books are being banned because they include LGBTQ+ characters, certain religious views, and/or certain views on the government. Although some books are okay to ban such as books that include sexual content, extreme violence, and/or cursing. The books that okay to be banned are not in included with the fight to stop banning books.
