Stop Bodyshaming —Start Appreciating!
The Issue
Bodyshaming has been a social issue for a long time, and it is one of the causes of depression and suicidal thoughts that makes people feel insecure and dissatisfied with their body type.
With this petition, I want you to stop bodyshaming and start appreciating. We are all different and unique in our own ways, so let us try to put ourselves in others' shoes to experience how it feels to be bodyshamed. We don't even know what their story is, so why should we judge someone based on their physical appearance when we should be looking at ourselves first before judging others?
Words are sharper than knives, and indirect compliments about body shaming hurt just as much.
When you're about to say something to someone about their physical appearance, always ask yourself these questions first, "What would I feel if I was told like that? How could my words affect them, how they act, and how they think of themselves?"
It's already 2023, and bodyshaming others is still happening here and there when we have bigger issues to address within ourselves, our environment, and our society.
I'd like to end this petition with a quotation from a confident girl that inspired me: "If I don't fit into this generation's standard of beauty, then I'll have to become a different standard."
So, once again, stop bodyshaming and start appreciating!!
