I was told by my RA that our dorm RDs are going to make us participate in a mandatory, campus-wide blind date system in which our roommate (or another random single-roomer on our hall if we don't have a roommate) will choose a date for us. This date must be a person of the opposite sex (no "friend" dates here) as an act to "cultivate community". This is unethical and unfair to students, especially those who have no interest in forming a romantic relationship, those who have social anxiety, or those who feel it is morally wrong to date blind instead of specifically choosing a partner. In addition, it adds an element of confusion to the campus, as we have very strict dating and sexuality regimens. The reason our dorms had brother and sister halls was to hang out with the opposite sex, not so we could be forced into a "date" with them after the brother/sister hall idea was abolished. Vote to take action against this idea, please.
