After going through a particularly difficult period in my life and finding myself very vunerable, my dog Thea has been my constant source of comfort and emotional support. She isn’t just a pet; she’s been my reason to keep going through some of my hardest days.

I’ve been put in the position of having to choose between safe accommodation and keeping Thea by my side because of blanket bans on animals in temporary housing.

Nobody should have to make that choice, especially when they’re already vulnerable and trying to rebuild their life.

I’m asking councils and temporary accommodation providers to stop blanket refusals and start considering individual circumstances. Everyone deserves the chance to feel safe without being forced to give up the animals who help them through life’s toughest moments.
