The Issue

Freedom to practice one’s religious beliefs are a fundamental right given by our Canadian constitution.

Christians base their beliefs on the Holy Bible which is the absolute truth to them. Christians have been at the receiving end of hate speech and indifferent attitudes because of their beliefs and expressions of what they believe to be the Truth.

Bill C-367 now renamed as Bill C-373 eliminates the “religious exemption” in Section 319 of the Criminal Code in Canada. This would enable the government to treat Christians in Canada as hate-criminals, if in good faith they express an opinion based on the Word of God. By sanctioning Bill C-373 (formerly called Bill C-367) Christians in Canada will have their freedom of expression taken away if they quote a passage from the Bible and they could also face legal actions. How is a passage quoted from the Holy Scriptures regarded as hate speech?

Bill C-373 (Bill C-367) must not be passed into law as it will remove constitutionally granted religious freedom from Christians in Canada and prevent them from practising their freedom of expression!
