Stop Berkeley Homes' ASHP Development in Wellington Park – Protect Our Green Space

The Issue

As residents of Foundry House, along with Buildings 22, 36, 36a, 37, and the wider Royal Arsenal community, we vehemently oppose Berkeley Homes’ plan to build an open pit ASHP building on a section of Wellington Park, with the vital green space being destroyed making up 15.5% of the park’s total area.

Rendering of the proposed open pit air source heat pump energy centre

The construction and subsequent operation of Air Source Heat Pump Systems (ASHPs) on this site will render this green space unusable for future generations.

This proposal threatens the protection of the heritage of our historic environment, reduces accessible green space, and introduces prolonged noise and disruption. The presence of these structures will significantly lower property values to the surrounding buildings, impacting the financial security that many residents have worked so hard to achieve. The two-year construction project will deeply affect our quality of life, family routines, and directly infringes upon our right to enjoy the park.

We also object to the lack of transparency and inadequate consultation with residents. We call on Berkeley Homes to halt these plans and work with the community to find a more respectful and sustainable solution, including finding an alternative site to construct the ASHP Building.

Sign this petition to protect our park, our homes, and our future.
