Bergholt Road is dangerous. It is dangerous for the people who live here, their families and their pets. 

This week my beautiful cat Poppy was hit by a woman driving too fast and on her phone. She stole a beloved pet from me and my young daughters because of her disregard for road safety. 

I hope beyond hope nobody ever has to take their children to say goodbye to their pet because a careless driver killed them and didn’t even stop to see if they were ok. 

In 7 years of living here, my family has had to say goodbye to three of our beloved pets due to irresponsible and reckless driving and I know we are not the only family affected by this. 

Drivers speeding, on their phones, parking on double yellow lines and parking during restricted hours are making this road increasingly unsafe. 

I cannot even let my children out to play due to the fear of them walking alongside the road due to the frequency of dangerous driving.

If nothing is done pets will continue to die, families will continue to suffer and I fear, one day, it won’t be a pet, it will be a child that loses their life. 

Something needs to be done, and now, to address the issues above, before it is too late.
