As the Alameda County Fair plans for the 2024 event, more community members have expressed concerns about their practice of awarding fish as prizes for games.

Petopia Club, an animal advocacy group at Foothill High School in Pleasanton, has joined in the efforts to urge the Alameda County Fair to stop giving out live goldfish as prizes. They are working on creating flyers to spread the word around campus about this issue which is occurring in the city of Pleasanton.
