After efforts to advocate with NYX Capital Corporation, NYX told a resident on October 9th, 2019 that they have no interest in saving Tannery house. NYX has also said it is not their intention to replace the rental units on the property, including Tannery house due to a timing issue, despite the city saying the opposite.
A delay in scheduling the city hall meeting to decide the fate of Tannery house and the development application has allowed NYX to apply for a second set of permits to demolish on Oct 11th, 2019. Chief Building Official, Ezio Savini, of the city of Mississauga will decide whether to issue the demolition permits to NYX.
A source at city hall has confirmed the time line for the demolition permit applications appears to be 10 days, starting on Oct. 15th, 2019. Demolition permits issued under under the Building Code Act provide a 20 day deadline to appeal. More information is pending. The Demolition Control by-law 45-19 is also in force in Mississauga which has not been upheld in these circumstances.
