STOP Atlas Pest and Wildlife Control Animal Cruelty Against Pigeons
The Issue
In the year 2020 we witnessed Atlas Pest and Wildlife Control's cruelty, when they trapped the pigeons in the building parking of 1166 Melville Street Vancouver BC, and suffocated them right front of some of the tenants.
One of the tenants DEVELOPED PTSD, witnessing the innocent and harmless animals getting killed in the most cruelest manner. It's never easy to witness such traumatic events, even if it's against those that they call PESTS.
In the year 2021, once again the Atlas Pest control traps were witnessed on Translink property and in many occasions pigeons were seen dead inside those traps out of the negligence and left there for weeks at a time.
We ask that trapping and culling of these harmless birds should be STOPPED IMMEDIATLY, seeing as though there are many other pest control companies who deal with pigeon problems humanely.
Any Business or Resident buildings hiring these pest companies, who trap pigeons, suffocate them, snap their necks, will lose their reputation. All kind of businesses or residents have many people who love and respect all kind of animals including pigeons, and thus, will not tolerate cruelty. Taking services from such inhumane and brutal companies may cause them not only lose their reputation but also clients and tenants of Airbnb.
Many of the pest control companies such as Advance Pest Control has openly written on their website 'IF YOU ARE TIRED OF SNAPPING NECKS, CALL THE PROFESSIONALS'. Just because city and SPCA permits killing of birds such as pigeons, crows, seagulls, starlings, doesn't make it okay or less cruel.
It's shame on the city to allow such a barbaric treatment of it's wildlife. We ask cities to build public aviary's for pigeons to keep them away from businesses and properties and control their population by removing the eggs, this is the most humane way, and many of us will donate seeds, and money for maintenance of those aviaries, money being spend on those pest control companies which doesn't even work could be spent in a smarter way of controlling their population
Cities pigeons are often treated badly not just by pest companies but others because of the misinformation spread by Spca and city councilors about pigeons, normally kids and some adults kick them, scare them on streets, which cause their dead getting hit by cars, or they are left with broken wings. Such cruelty should STOP IMMEDIATELY , WE NEED CITY TO TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY
