Disney has made a decision to create a show on Disney+ that glorifies a known Turkish dictator of the Armenian Genocide. Everyday, Armenians struggle with our relationship with Turkey and Azerbaijan, and we've suffered for too many decades by egregious and inhumane leaders. As our country shrinks, we don't have a lot left to cherish.

For Disney to glorify a man who is responsible for the murder of 1.5 million people is beyond words. The genocide lasted for 8 years. 1915 to 1923. We were starved, decapitated, shot, drowned, raped, and murdered. We saw our mothers and our fathers killed. And now, a multi-billion dollar corporation is going to deface our deaths, and deceive the many people who watch this show. We are not going to let this happen.

The time is now. Disney has already gotten away with other blunders with their blatant disrespect to other cultures (Oye Primos, Raya and the Last Dragon, Their attempt at trademarking The Day of The Dead), but they have gone a step too far. Disney has shown that they aren't as inclusive as they want to be, and it is clear to me that they haven't changed ever since their racist depictions of minorities in their older films. We will NOT let one of the biggest corporations on Earth trick people into thinking that genocidal leaders are okay. Let's make the world a better place.
