I am a dedicated resident of the throckley community, and for 13 years I have been intimately involved in the revival and maintenance of a neglected public area that had long been abandoned and misused as a dumping ground. Despite the absence of action from the local authority, I took the initiative, rallied support from fellow residents, and transformed this blighted land into a flourishing green space and enclosed allotment garden. 

This once-forgotten parcel of land now stands as a testament to my effort and dedication, featuring clean pathways, vibrant gardens, and grassed areas. Restoring it was not only a labor of love but a necessary action to reclaim our neighborhood's dignity and environmental well-being.

My involvement in the land has stopped all anti social behaviour, that blighted 14 homes and  their residents for many years before.

However, despite these achievements and ongoing community benefits, I am now facing removal from the land by the very authorities who failed to maintain it in the first place. This action is not just an affront to me personally but a blow to all residents who have invested time, care, and resources into this project.

Our local authorities need to recognize the positive impact that engaged and proactive residents have on community spaces, and the huge role we play in enhancing them where official systems have previously failed. Arbitrary actions that undermine these efforts are not only discouraging but detrimental to the community's overall progress.

We demand that local officials reconsider this unwarranted decision and work collaboratively with residents like myself who have proven their capacity to manage and protect public areas and hidden spaces without the threat of removal.
