Stop applications to build more homes in Netley Abbey
The Issue
As you can see from the list below there has already been so many housing applications granted and many more waiting appeal. If all of these are granted in and around the three local villages, Netley, Hamble and Burlsedon then over 1000 homes will be developed over the next few years. This is a very large proportion of development for Eastleigh Borough Council in such a small isolated area. These three villages are not in land, like the rest of borough, we are cut off on two sides by water. Map of the three villages showing current developments
- Land at Hamble Station – waiting on appeal (225 + 60 + 40 units)
- Berry Farm – planning granted, waiting for building to commence (166 units)
- Ridge Farm – Waiting for appeal (250 units)
- Car Boot Site – waiting for planning application (180 units)
- Mallards Road – waiting for planning application (70 units)
- Jurd Way – planning granted, waiting for building to commence (150 units)
- Providence Hill – Planning granted, waiting for building to commence (62 units)
- Blundell Lane – planning granted, waiting for building to commence (90 units)
- Abbey Fruit Farm – planning granted, waiting for building to commence (80 units + 5 industrial)
- Plus the Gravel Pits in Hamble
Another land owner has now approached developers to propose plans for building another 85 homes on Grange Road, Netley Abbey.
It is imperative that Hampshire County Council and our elected representatives take immediate and positive action to halt the inappropriate planning applications for housing that are surplus to need and set to permanently damage our communities.
The cumulative impact of current applications will result in at least 1650 additional cars on Hamble Lane, already known as one of the ‘busiest B roads’ in the UK.
There are many reason not to allow more housing to be built in the local area:
- Lack of infrastructure
- Lack of schools
- Lack of local services, such as doctors, dentists
- Lack of transport links
- Increased flooding
- Increase in waste, air pollution, traffic
We don't need anymore houses, so please sign and share this petition to stop more planning applications being put forward without the consideration of how this impacts the villages.
