The Issue

We, the undersigned, are calling for:

1. An immediate investigation into the practices of Egyptian colleges and universities regarding animal treatment and experimentation.

2. The implementation of humane alternatives to live animal dissection in veterinary and medical programs, such as computer simulations and models.

3. Clearer ethical guidelines and the enforcement of existing animal welfare laws.

4. Transparency and accountability from educational institutions about their use of animals in education and research.

To Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism, Egypt:
As a nation known for its rich cultural heritage and deep ties to animal symbolism, Egypt should lead by example in ethical animal treatment. We urge you to take immediate action to stop this cruelty in our colleges and universities. The world is watching, and we will not stand silent as animals suffer in the name of education.
