Stop Anti-LGBT Censorship Bills In UCPS

Stop Anti-LGBT Censorship Bills In UCPS
The Issue
Union County Public Schools is the sixth-largest school district in North Carolina, serving over 41,000 students across the state. However, these students are set to be the latest groups of students subject to anti-LGBT board of education legislation, with measures such as banning pride flags, safe spaces for LGBT students and even considering the possibility of a ban against books with LGBT content.
If things do not change and we allow this bill to pass, many students in UCPS will be affected. Heterosexual students will not be allowed to learn more about a marginalized community that they don't belong to, and LGBT students will feel more alone than they already do with the lack of affirmation and representation that these rules would impose on them.
These will be voted on in May at the UCPS Board of Education meeting, so now is the time to act, sign this petition, and even attend the meeting if you are able to, to voice your opposition against these heinous, unjust rules.
Please share this petition with everyone you can as well!
