Stop Animal Testing on Monkeys, Consider Alternatives

Stop Animal Testing on Monkeys, Consider Alternatives

The Issue

Our world is a place of diversity and every life in it is precious. The sight of monkeys stuck in metal cages being subjected to various tests is distressing and unjust. Lab monkeys, coming out of their natural habitat, are innocent creatures that suffer unimaginable terror in laboratories across the world, all in the name of scientific progress. This point is fiercely personal to numerous individuals who have witnessed these horrific conditions and deeply empathise with these animals.

There is an alternative, however controversial, suggested by many. It is proposed that these science experiments could be conducted on death row inmates instead. This sparks a debate on ethics yet again. While the innocence of monkeys is unquestionable, death row inmates have been declared guilty of the worst crimes, so the argument of their utilization for these experiments is prevalent.

It is estimated that about 115,000 monkeys are used in laboratory tests each year globally (source: Humane Society International). The ethics of animal testing is a subject of much debate, with concern about the cruelty animals endure while contributing little to nothing to practical human needs.

Yet the practicality of shifting experiments to death row inmates is yet to be explored. Such a move can have repercussions that needs to be adequately assessed and subject to consensus.

The purpose of this petition is to urge the relevant authorities to stop testing on monkeys and begin researching and considering alternatives. Let's strive for a future where innocent beings do not suffer for the advancement of human science. We plead for compassion, justice and a re-evaluation of our current methods. Please, sign this petition if you stand with us in ending this painful practice.
