Stop animal cruelty in Subway's supply chain!

Stop animal cruelty in Subway's supply chain!

The Issue

⚠️The Issue⚠️

Subway has been exposed by the 2025 Eggsposé Report. A decade ago, the company promised to get the hens in their supply chains out of cages, but Subway has failed to publicly report any progress. This massive corporation, owned by Roark Capital, is one of the largest restaurant chains in the world, yet they continue to allow hens to suffer in the worst conditions for the sake of profit.

❎ Subway appears to be practicing "Humanewashing" - the act of corporations making statements about animal welfare to appeal to customers while not taking any actions to follow through on those statements.

Taken directly from Subway's website:

"Subway® believes that where our ingredients come from and how our animals are bred, raised, transported, and slaughtered are integral to preparing great food for our guests. We take the issue of animal welfare seriously and believe the ethical treatment of animals is an essential component of our commitment to responsible sourcing."

🐓🐓 The chickens in Subway's egg supply chains suffer in dirty cages that are so cramped, they cannot even spread their wings. Their feet become severely injured from standing endlessly on wires without relief. Egg-laying hens live for approximately one and a half years in these horrific conditions and never know a minute of peace without pain and psychological stress. Clearly out of alignment with Subway's claim about the ethical treatment of animals.

Many of Subway's competitors are meeting their cage-free commitments years before their deadlines, like McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Carl's Jr. or are transparently reporting progress on their commitments, like Jack in the Box and White Castle. So why is Subway seemingly supporting such an archaic and cruel practice?

Subway states it is "...on track to source 100% cage-free eggs in North America by the end of 2025, subject to market availability." The added caveat at the end means there is no actual accountability. One more empty promise that sounds like Subway cares, but the reality is far from caring.

No Way Subway! It's 2025 and time is up. 100% cage-free eggs now!
