Support Destiny’s Law – Stronger  Penalties for Animal Abuse & Neglect

Animal cruelty should never be ignored. We are calling for the passage of Destiny’s Law, which will enforce stronger penalties for animal abuse and neglect, require quicker intervention in reported cases, and mandate proper medical care for neglected animals.

Destiny’s Story:

Destiny was a victim of extreme neglect and abuse—left outside without food, water, advanced heartworm positive,  could hardly walk, severe dental disease, suffering from a Mast Cell Tumor larger than a melon hanging heavily in-between her legs, and used solely for breeding. Despite six reports  over a two year span from neighbors, no action was taken by the City Animal Control Director, and no charges have been filed against her original owners. When she was finally rescued and adopted by a loving family, her condition was too severe to overcome. On March 12th, 2025, Destiny succumbed to the effects of prolonged abuse and neglect.

Destiny’s case is not an isolated incident. Too many animals suffer due to weak laws and lack of enforcement. Studies show a direct link between animal abuse and violent crime, making this an issue that affects not only animals but society as a whole.

By signing this petition, you are urging Lawmakers to pass Destiny’s Law and take a stand against animal cruelty. This law would:

✅ Enforce harsher penalties for animal abusers

✅ Ensure faster intervention when abuse is reported

✅ Require mandatory medical treatment for neglected animals

✅ Hold authorities accountable for acting on reports of abuse

✅ Hold animal shelter directors and employees accountable—if they fail to act, they must face consequences, including termination

✅ Establish a mandatory protocol for removing animals from neglectful owners

✅ Require immediate rescue of animals showing clear signs of abuse: dehydration, malnourishment, open wounds, lack of food or water

✅ Increase funding for shelters and rescues, establish more shelters to accommodate rescued animals, stop kill shelters.
