In December 2022 a bull, who was kept in an 8'x12' pen for all of its adult life (the gate to the pen was never opened and he never was able to get out), was starved so that there was absolutely no body fat and he froze to death in 11-degree temps. This animal was abused all of its adult life, its hooves were so long that it could not walk. After it passed, the owners dragged it out to a meza by its horns and dumped it to be eaten by coyotes. He was dumped within 200 yards of a no-dumping, $500 fine sign on the mesa, and nothing was done about fining the owners either (I know exactly who they are and directed authorities to their address). This will happen again with these owners, and a precedent needs to be established to enforce animal abuse laws.

Please sign this so legislators assure that the New Mexico Livestock Board does what it is legally required to do by supporting and upholding laws that criminally punish perpetrators of animal abuse cases.
