The Issue

Install a Traffic Signal at Dixie Highway and Garfield Street/21st Avenue in Hollywood, Florida to Prevent Future Tragedies

Petition:

On June 25, 2026, my brother, Colt William Firth, lost his life in a tragic traffic collision at the intersection of Dixie Highway, Garfield Street, and 21st Avenue in Hollywood, Florida (33020).

No family should have to endure the pain of losing a loved one when improvements to road safety may help prevent future tragedies.

We respectfully urge the City of Hollywood, Broward County, and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), if applicable, to conduct an immediate traffic safety evaluation of this intersection and install an appropriate traffic control signal or other necessary safety measures.

Potential improvements could include:

Installation of a traffic light if warranted by engineering studies.
Enhanced pedestrian crossings and signalization.
Improved roadway signage and pavement markings.
Better lighting and visibility.
Any additional traffic-calming measures recommended by transportation engineers.
This petition is not only in memory of Colt William Firth, but also for every resident, pedestrian, cyclist, and driver who travels through this intersection each day. We ask our local leaders to act before another family experiences the same heartbreaking loss.

Please join us in calling for a thorough safety review and the implementation of measures that can save lives.

Sign this petition to support safer roads in Hollywood, Florida, and to honor the memory of Colt William Firth.
