The Issue

Growing up in a tranquil neighborhood, I cherished the sweet sounds of birds singing and the serene blue skies stretching far beyond. Now, with Amazon planning to deploy drones for parcel delivery, my peaceful surroundings face a disruptive future. I want to wake up to the sound of nature, not the incessant buzzing of drones. I want to look up and admire the vastness of the sky, not see it littered with mechanical beasts.

Amazon's ambitious plans to use drones for rapid parcel delivery may seem like progress, but they come with significant consequences. Noise pollution from constantly buzzing drones will not only disturb our peaceful neighborhoods but also pose a severe threat to local wildlife. Birds and other creatures rely on natural soundscapes for breeding and communication, and the introduction of persistent drone noise could have disastrous effects on their populations.

Beyond noise, drones have a significant environmental impact. They contribute to carbon emissions and energy consumption, contradicting global efforts to fight climate change. Moreover, increasing drone traffic in our skies may lead to accidents and pose safety concerns for both people and wildlife.

It is shocking that no comprehensive studies have been conducted to assess these potential impacts before rolling out drone deliveries. We need our leaders to prioritize environmental conservation and community well-being over technological convenience.

We urge Amazon to halt its drone delivery program until thorough research and public consultations are conducted. Moreover, other sustainable and less invasive parcel delivery methods should be explored.

Join us in preserving our skies and protecting our wildlife. Sign this petition to urge Amazon to reconsider using drones for parcel delivery.
