We are deeply concerned about Amazon's plan to construct a 4.2 million square foot mega warehouse in our residential neighborhood of Holbrook, NY. As residents who cherish our community and its serenity, we fear that this development will irreversibly alter the fabric of our daily lives.

Imagine the impact of 1200 truck trips arriving and departing during peak hours each day through our already congested roads. Holbrook, a place many of us have chosen for its peace, is already grappling with high traffic volumes and accident rates. Adding a constant stream of industrial traffic will heighten these dangers, making commutes long and stressful and endangering the safety of our families.

Moreover, the enviable natural beauty of our area is at risk. The Sans Souci watershed, a vital source of water for our community and a sanctuary for local wildlife, faces a serious threat from potential pollution. Protecting this precious ecosystem should be a priority for us all, as it plays a critical role in our environmental well-being.

Our property values, too, are likely to suffer. As Amazon seeks tax breaks for their new facility, the financial burden may shift onto us, the residents. We will be left with higher taxes and diminishing property worth in return for a less livable environment. This trade-off is neither fair nor reasonable.

We must urge the Town of Islip Town Board, the Planning Board, the Industrial Development Agency, and the Suffolk County Department of Planning to deny zoning changes, approvals, permits, tax abatements or incentives necessary for the construction of the proposed 4.2 million square foot warehouse.

Our voices can make a difference. By signing this petition, we take a collective stand to protect our neighborhoods, our environment, and our future. Demand that Amazon selects a more suitable location outside of residential areas for their warehouse operations. Let's preserve the Holbrook we love for ourselves and future generations. 2. Deny all tax abatements , subsidies, and financial incentives.
3. Ensure transparent public hearings.
4. Consider alternative development that better serves residents and protects Suffolk County.
