Each time I attend a fireworks display, it is ruined by the fear I see in the many dogs that people bring along. I question what others are thinking and how they aren't affected by the upset displayed by what is supposed to be a beloved pet. Do they know it terrifies them? Do they think they are being kind by including them in the event? Do they know how their dogs respond to the world around them?

Tonight, as the fireworks began in our hometown of Wiarton, Ontario my family and I watched a beautiful dog dash in terror from it's family on the beach. It was so scared that it ran full force into a fence, bounced off and ran for traffic. Will this family find their dog? Will it be injured when they do? The fear travelling through this animal's psyche and the many others I've witnessed over the years has me furious, upset and sad that municipalities haven't done more to protect these beautiful living things with NO voice. 

I will now be their voice and will not be silenced until something has changed. The act of bringing your dog to fireworks is cruel, unnecessary and harmful. 

Since pet owners are too irresponsible to simply leave their dogs at home and are perhaps uneducated about what the sight, sound and smell of fireworks does to a dog's nervous system (triggering a fight or flight response), I want to see local authorities prohibit and announce that dogs are NOT to attend such events. 

I am asking for your help!! Can you please sign this petition and help me to make this necessary CHANGE? I will start local, but intend to continue until awareness for this problem has authorities discussing what can be done.
