We, the people, are more alike than the internet makes us believe. Yet the algorithms behind our social media feeds thrive on showing us the loudest, angriest, and most extreme voices — creating the illusion of a country hopelessly divided. This profit-driven design is tearing at the fabric of our communities, even though most of us share far more common ground than conflict. We call on lawmakers and tech companies to bring transparency and accountability to these algorithms, so that our digital spaces can reflect reality, reduce division, and help us build a more civil and united society.
