Throughout Hellgate highschool generative AI is becoming more and more common as a tool to teach. Generative AI is not only harmful to the planet itself, but to the many artists and creators who live in our society. We know many students are against the use of AI in classes, and we also know many of those students parents are against it as well. 

School is a place to learn, a plave to educate those who would us into the future, a future that we believe we can make brighter. The use of AI, whether it be chat GPT or entire data centers, is only fueling the cloud that threatens to dim that very future. 

In more specific words, this ban is specifically targeting the use of generative AI as a teaching tool. Many of the subjects taught in highschools are sensitive , particularly in classes such as US history. Multiple subjects that students are subjected to require a human empathy, a human emotion that is completely absent in the AI generated videos we are shown in classes.

AI is seen by some as a tool to teach, a resource to lighten the load on teachers. Used to bolster the critical thinking skills of students. However, AI videos and courses do not engage those critical thinking skills, AI videos shown as a teaching material simply give answers, they do not allow students to make inquiries for themselves in the way that videos, and lectures and imagery does.
