These centers are set to bring not only physical changes to our landscape but could fundamentally alter the well-being of our neighborhoods.
The looming threat of pollution from diesel generators, massive water usage, and inevitable dumping of contaminants is too significant to ignore. Beyond environmental impacts, the day-to-day peace of residents will be disrupted by non-stop noise pollution. It’s important to consider that the approval of this data center could jeopardize local wildlife, unbalance ecosystems, and diminish the quality of our air and water immeasurably. Moreover, every homeowner and resident stands to suffer financially. The costs of this data center will find their way onto our bills, with increased electricity costs and unforeseen taxes levied to support its operations. These expenses will undoubtedly affect our economy and strain many families and individuals who are already working hard to make ends meet. Even more unsettling is the potential for significant depreciation of property values for miles around. This issue is not only about preserving the environment and defending property values but is fundamentally about safeguarding our community’s health, economy, and quality of life. This plan has been set in motion without adequate consultation or consideration of the local residents who will bear the brunt of these drastic changes. Rowan County Commissioners have the power to halt the preparations and reconsider the assurances of short-term gains over the potential irreversible long-term consequences. We urge the council to reevaluate the necessity and impact of these data centers and seek alternative locations or solutions that align with sustainable development and community welfare.
By signing this petition, you are standing up for Salisbury’s cherished environment, advocating for fair treatment of its citizens, and urging the decision-makers to prioritize the well-being of their constituents over profit margins. We need your voice in making sure all ofRowan County government hear us loud and clear.  Please sign and share this petition to protect our community.
