Why this petition matters

If you’ve ever been to African Lion Safari you might have enjoyed seeing all the wild animals like the lions, rhinos, girraffes, etc. roaming free in large areas. However, once you get to the bird area, you will be shocked at the large birds’ (vultures, eagles, owls, etc.) enclosures.

These large birds like to soar in the vast, blue sky. When you see them, you can feel their desire to escape and you see the sadness in their eyes. Many of these birds like to be in the higher ground, however you are there making eye contact with them at African Lion Safari.

What is also very depressing are the owls. The owls are placed near the train in very small cages with hardly any room to fly. All their cages are attached and dark without objects from the natural environments (ex: tree branches). Especially sad are the snow owls who are in chaotic cages with lots of unnecessary objects (bike, random sticks). These owls nest near the North Pole in the summer and yet here they are in the heat of southern Ontario in the summer months.

African Lion Safari has said they release these birds and keep them for conservation purposes, but do they have to live in such a depressing state? The least they can is provide a good environment for them to thrive and be happy. And when will they be released? How long do they have to subject to such terrible living conditions?

Sign this petition for the possibility of freeing these majestic birds or to urge African Lion Safari to give them better enclosures.
