Adelaide has two and only two globally significant and iconic attributes. 

They are our State Parliament; the home of the world’s first legislation granting women both the right to vote and the right to stand for election to parliament. and your Adelaide Park Lands; encircling our city like no other place on the planet.

In unprecedented moves, Premier Malinauskas is now undermining both our globally significant attributes.

The Adelaide Park Lands Association is joining with the Save Festival Plaza Alliance. Please come together with us, to show your support for these two attributes.

Save Festival Plaza — Stop Walker Tower 2

The Save Festival Plaza campaign calls for the immediate cancellation of Walker Corporation’s proposed Tower Two — a 38-storey commercial skyscraper planned for key public land directly behind South Australia’s Parliament.

The tower threatens the integrity of South Australia's Parliament House, the heart of our democracy, the first in the world to legislate for women’s full political rights and the first to achieve universal suffrage. It’s also recognized for being the first in the world to grant secret ballot voting and achieving one vote-one value. 

This is not the right place for a huge commercial tower. At five times the height of Parliament House, this tower would dominate and overshadow your nationally heritage-listed Parliament.

The State Government’s rezoning of this land gifts our civic heart to a Sydney developer, erasing historic views of Parliament from our cultural precinct and riverfront. Instead, we propose a Democracy and Culture Hub — a lasting legacy that celebrates Adelaide’s global democratic achievements.

Protect Possum Park 
The Protect Possum Park campaign opposes the government’s unprecedented seizure of Possum Park/ Pirltawardli (Park 1 of your Adelaide Park Lands) for a commercial re-development.

Draconian State legislation strips all protections from 15–20% of your Park Lands, allowing private commercialisation, tree and habitat destruction, and threatens biodiversity. 

Surrounding our city with open, public, green space, Adelaide’s Park Lands are globally unique — making Adelaide the world’s only city in a park. We demand legal safeguards and rejection of private exploitation of these treasured, open, green public spaces.
