The Uk has a proud history of being a welcoming safe nation. This is founded on our shared belief in the value of the individual and respect for our neighbour under the rule of law. We need to recognise that safety has been undermined by current international circumstances that are placing intolerable and unacceptable burdens on the British people and economy. Before accepting or increasing any more asylum or refugee claims we must ensure our own people are safe from unknown harms and risks: otherwise we are being irresponsible to newcomers as well as our British heritage, whilst betraying future generations.
