The problems with donkey basketball by Eric Davis UC Davis-International Animal Welfare Training Institute, retired Rural Veterinary Experience Teaching and Service (RVETS)

The concerned members of the American Donkey Society, responsible breeders, rescues and donkeys enthusiasts and advocates ask that you immediately stop the practice of donkey basketball. We ask that you read this letter by a world recognized donkey welfare expert and veterinarian, Eric Davis.

This letter explains the physical and mental burden this practice places on these animals. We hope that because you are an educational institution you will take this as a teaching opportunity to educate your entire community regarding this issue and choose to fundraise without doing harm. 

There are so many misconceptions regarding this humble creature who has served man since 5000 years prior to the domestication of horses. We ask you to hear this request, consider these facts and cease and desist.
