Stop Aberdeenshire Council from Cutting Daycare and Transport Services

The Issue

Our vulnerable family members have relied on Aberdeenshire's daycare and services for many years. It is more than just a service; it is a lifeline for our family and countless others across Aberdeenshire. The recent proposal by Aberdeenshire Council and IJB to cut these services is not only disheartening but abhorrent.

These services are essential to the well-being and development of numerous special-needs individuals. With so many depending on these services, the negative implications of these cuts are immense. According to the latest statistical release from the Scottish Government, about 26,349 school children have additional support needs in Aberdeenshire (Scottish Government, 2021). This means, a significant portion of our community will be directly impacted by the proposed cuts.

Budget cuts might seem like a quick fix to mitigating short-term fiscal issues, but it bears a long-term cost, the brunt of which is borne by vulnerable, special needs individuals and their families. I implore Aberdeenshire Council and IJB to consider the devastating impacts this decision will have on our community's most vulnerable members.

We, therefore, ask the Council and the IJB to halt the proposed cuts on daycare and transport services in Aberdeenshire. It is essential that we protect the needs of those who depend on these services for a better and independent life. Please stand with us, sign this petition, and let's uphold the rights of our community members.
