I am a concerned mother of three children and it has come to my attention that some parents are encouraging thier children to form a “Club America” that is the high school club name for Turning Point USA.  I’m ok with a political debate club where both sides are represented, or some  unaffiliated young republicans club, just not anything associated with Turning Point USA and the racist, xenophobic, misogynistic,  anti-trans, anti-LGBTQIA+ hate speech associated with Turning Point’s founder, Charlie Kirk, does not belong at our schools and around young impressionable minds who are still trying to learn about the world and their place in it. 

 As a mother who is on the queer spectrum and flies a progress pride flag outside my house, I’m trying to teach my children love and acceptance of other people. And to stand up for those that are marginalized and downtrodden. Having Turning Point USA at our high school will undermine the ability for the entire student body to get along and lift each other up despite their differences. We already have a problem with violence and bullying at our high school, and this will not make it any better. We need unity not more divisiveness. Charlie Kirk has been known to whitewash history and say that the Civil Rights Act was a mistake and that blacks were better under slavery. He’s also been known to say that people south of the boarder are trying to replace white people to make our country less white. He’s also said that “trans people are a throbbing middle finger to God”. That type of trying to rewriting of history, race replacement theory, and anti queer hateful rhetoric is damaging to our children and doesn’t belong in our schools while they are still learning the basics of education and acceptable social interaction with others. Please help me keep Turning Point USA out of our high school and sign this petition. I will be taking it to the school board with as many people that will accompany me for as many times as I need to plead my case to keep it out of our High School.
