Stop a puppy mill retail store from opening in our neighborhood

Stop a puppy mill retail store from opening in our neighborhood
The Issue
We, the residents and shoppers of Tamaya, are asking Harbour Retail Partners and their leasing team at Colliers to reconsider their decision to bring Bark Street Puppies into the Tamaya Market shopping center on Beach Blvd.
Bark Street Puppies is a retail pet store that sells puppies. Retail pet stores are widely documented as sourcing animals from large-scale commercial breeding facilities—commonly known as puppy mills—where dogs are kept in inhumane conditions, overbred, and given inadequate veterinary care, regardless of how the store describes its breeders.
Bark Street Puppies currently holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau due to failure to respond to consumer complaints. This is not the kind of business that reflects the values of our community.
Tamaya is a neighborhood built around family, health, and quality of life. The businesses in Tamaya Market should reflect that. We are asking that Harbour Retail Partners and Colliers decline to finalize this tenancy—and that the City of Jacksonville explore an ordinance restricting the retail sale of puppies sourced from commercial breeders, as dozens of cities across the country have already done.
