Finally, I have something to update from behind the hazard fencing on Upper North Street. The months since my last update have been incredibly frustrating. The bundle seeking permission to proceed with judicial review, and requesting options to speed up the case, was lodged with the court on 13 April. The Council is challenging permission and has not agreed with any of our options to speed up the case. The court order we received proposed a 3 hour hearing to consider permission, expedition (the speeding up bit) and the capping of costs (with which the Council has never disagreed) on a date agreed between ourselves and the Council. The Council did not agree with any of the dates we put forward for June or the first half of July. The ‘agreed’ date is now 20 July, the date of another train strike!
In addition, I requested a ‘without prejudice’ meeting with our recently elected representatives to see if we could find a political solution that did not result in costs being piled up for both myself and the Council. Imagine my delight to receive the notice above from Alison Thomson, one of the Regency councillors. You are all invited! I would love to be able to meet at least some of you.
I have also linked below the update on the CrowdJustice site that I have also emailed to backers. We are hoping for a big turnout for the meeting on Friday, July 7 at 6:00 pm in the Osborne Suite at the Metropole Hotel. See you there!!!
