Stop 40m Telstra Mobile Phone Tower being built at RSL War Veterans Village Narrabeen

RSL Lifecare (the War Vets) have lodged a DA to construct a 40m high mobile phone tower (Monopole) at 1 Lakeshore Drive, Narrabeen, within 200m of neighbouring properties in Lantana Avenue, Ennerdale Crescent, Greystoke Street, Wheeler Heights and close to a local preschool and primary schools.

The Monopole is grossly oversized and would be an ugly blight on an otherwise beautiful suburb well known for its stunning natural environment.  It would be the highest structure in Wheeler Heights and be seen from miles around.

We are concerned about the electromagnetic radiation (EMR) emanating from the tower.  Whilst we are told by Telstra that the EMR emissions are in accordance with ARPANSA levels, these levels are less stringent than many overseas countries and do not address low level long term exposure of the more powerful 4G and 5G mobile techologies on residents living within close proximity to these towers.

There are now numerous peer review scientific studies showing the adverse effects from EMR. Sadly these studies are not recognised in Australia, even though the WHO has conceded that EMR is "possibly carcinogenic to humans".  Further research needs to be conducted into the long term effects of EMR.

If this goes ahead it will dominate the Wheeler Heights skyline and affect our property values.  It could also cause long term health issues for the residents and young children living on neighbouring properties who would be subjected to this radiation constantly.

We urge the Northern Beaches Council to reject this application and protect neighbouring residents and young children from this environmental hazard.

It is important to lodge a submission objecting to the DA 2018/1481 on the Northern Beaches Council website by 22 October 2018 and please sign and share this petition.

Thank you
