Stony Brook students have had enough of mandates ruling our lives. It was overreach enough for the university to force us to get a shot with no long-term studies. The vaccine is only a year old. The university has no place in taking away a student's choice to get the booster shot or not. There is no science to support that a booster shot is going to make a tremendous impact on the school's covid cases. Over 95% of the school is vaccinated. We are plenty protected from covid. Additionally, there is a mask mandate that requires students to be masked inside. If the masks are really preventing covid transmission, why should the booster be required? It is time to say enough is enough and demand that Stony Brook University keep the booster shot OPTIONAL for students returning in the spring semester.
