Several of our Beauty spots and nature reserves in the Stoke on Trent area do allow fishing on the local pools and while most fishermen/women  are responsible people who respect the country code , it has been brought to our attention  that groups of such anglers aren’t respecting the wildlife on Holden Lane pools , these pools are a wildlife attraction with many breeding pairs of birds which are protected species , Swans , great crested Grebes , kingfishers to name but a few .

We feel strongly that as a wildlife reserve a ban on fishing should be upheld as it is on Ford Green Nature reserve. In the past Swans have been victim to fishing lines  and as a consequence swans have been killed or needed to be destroyed . More recently a cormorant fell foul to fishing tackle and fishermen took the law into their own hands and destroyed the cormorant there and then , claiming that the cormorants were Vermin and needed killing . 
We desperately need  your support to maintain a safe protected haven for the wildlife and a pleasant environment for nature lovers and families to walk in at Holden Lane .
