Keep meir library where it is
The Issue
Without consultation the local councillor for Meir south has announced the relocation of Meir library. It is currently accessible and well used. It has other facilities available to residents aswell.
The opening hours were reduced in 2017 to save 20k a year. The council are claiming that relocating the library will save £200k. Can we see the evidence of how this will actually be achieved?
Residents have concerns that the new location at the community centre would create issues for the elderly and those with mobility issues.
The size of the current community centre would not sufficiently house the whole range of services currently offered at the library, not without impacting other services.
