When a child is born alive, the Government of Ontario recognizes the birth with a birth certificate and gives it to the family. When a person dies, their death is recognised with the death certificate by our government and also given to the family. When a child is born still, their death and life are not recognised by our government and families are left with another yet again lifelong heartbreak.

There is nothing worse than leaving the hospital without your living baby and no tangible documentation as proof that you were there, you gave birth and your baby was born. Our kids are real, just because they were born still it doesn’t mean they didn’t exist.

We, as bereaved parents, families and friends of bereaved parents, demand that our government recognises the stillbirth of our children by honouring us with Stillbirth Certificate. 

I gave birth to my daughter and she was born still. Her life and the lives of many more stillborn babies deserve to be recognized by Stillbirth Certificate.

Stillbirth is still birth.
