Currently, the Adlai E. Stevenson Handbook policy for hate speech is vague and according to many anecdotes from students, not effective. Here it is below:

a) First Incident
LOP, detentions and /or up to five days of ADA, depending on the nature and severity of the incident.
b) Second Incident and Beyond
LOP and up to ten days of ADA or OSS. Possible Recommendation for Expulsion, depending on the nature and severity of the incident.

To report hate speech or harassment, students are directed to report it to the dean. However, action is still not being taken and hate speech (including the n word) is being used.
