Ban the use of enclosed yabby traps in freshwater in Queensland to prevent platypus deaths

Ban the use of enclosed yabby traps in freshwater in Queensland to prevent platypus deaths
The issue
Enclosed yabby or crab traps, such as opera house traps, set in freshwater ecosystems are responsible for killing by drowning platypus and rakali (native water rat). We ask Steven Miles, Queensland Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection, the Minister for National Parks and the Great Barrier Reef, and Bill Byrne, Queensland Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries to ban the sale and use of enclosed yabby traps in Queensland to help preserve both platypus and rakali.
