Waste Management submitted a request for permit to create a Class 1 deep injection well at the Monarch Hill Landfill located in unincorporated Broward County between Pompano Beach and Coconut Creek. The permit request is before the Florida Department of Environmental Protection who is the sole approval of the project. The request is asking to permit an injection well several thousand feet down through the drinking water sources for Broward residents. Waste Management describe the project as waste runoff from the land fill or "garbage juice." Yet the permit request lists multiple toxic chemicals to be dumped and several radioactive materials. This is the first well of this kind in Broward County. Waste Management has a current agreement with Broward County to pump waste runoff to a Broward County facility. Waste Management can not bring in waste from other facilities in that arrangement. This is to be a commercial well and the permit application states Waste Management intends to bring in outside waste for dumping. This is a severe threat to the health of all Broward residents as it has the potential to destroy the fragile water aquifers in and around the area of ​​the planned drill site.  

This petition is to inform Federal Legislators, the US Environmental Protection Agency, Florida State Legislators, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Broward County Commissioners that you are OPPOSED to approval of permit application FDEP No. 0342410-001-UC / 1I.
