Currently the rule is dogs are allowed in the area from7am to 9am. This leaves most working dog owners no chance to exercise their dogs in a controlled environment. Many midislanders don't have access to the other dog runs on the island which are on the north shore and south shore only. Condoning archery within a park that is part of the greenbelt to many sounds as if we are encountering hunting, which is illegal in N.Y.C and illegal hunting is already a growing problem with the rising deer numbers in the park system. Although most who use the archery field do it for sport, it is a dangerous sport which should be relocated to a safer more controlled location then directly adjacent to a trail head leading to the rest of the greenbelt. Which has no designated dog run in its entirety.
